Charlie Haylock - Woolpit FestivalWe are delighted to welcome Suffolk entertainer Charlie Haylock on his return to the Woolpit Festival. Charlie’s one man shows are legendary and on his last visit to Woolpit a packed village hall laughed the entire evening. Charlie’s shows have included ‘An Eccentric Look at Suffolk’ and ‘An Eccentric Look at the Countryside’; tonight’s show ‘A Manner of Speaking’ reflects his interest in the comic aspects of language, dialects and accents. If you have ever wondered why Australians speak the way they do then Charlie will tell you.

Charlie has written a number of bestselling books about Suffolk including ‘Sloightly on the Th’Huh’, ‘Don’t Hurry Me I’m Suffolk’ and ‘A Rum Owd Dew!’ He has also made a CD with Sounding Board Productions, Suffolk’s premiere ‘Dialect on Disc’ publisher. This combines autobiography, social observation, language history and classic Suffolk story telling.

You don’t need to be a linguist or an anthropologist to come along tonight but a keen sense of humour will help.
