Cellist Rebecca Welham presents ‘Bach to Broadway’, a mixture of light classical music, Bach’s Prelude in G, with a sprinkling of jazz courtesy of Aaron Minsky and her arrangements of some favourite show tunes.
Barnes and Roberts present the songs of Michael Flanders and Donald Swann who are remembered for their long-running two-man revues At the Drop of a Hat and At the Drop of another Hat. Together they wrote over a hundred comic songs and Barnes and Roberts will be performing some of their favourites, including I’m a g’nu. Rebecca Welham is a former pupil of Chetham’s School of Music and the Purcell School. She studied the cello with Leonid Gorokhov at the Royal College of Music, graduating in 2003. Suffolk composer Peter Cresswell has written a cello concerto especially for her. She has been awarded a number of prizes, including the Douglas Whittaker Prize for chamber music. Rebecca teaches cello at Ipswich School and writes songs and ensemble works. Derek Roberts has lived in Suffolk since 1982 where he was a High School Headmaster. Since retiring he has devoted his time to music, singing with the Stowmarket Chorale and accompanying local singers.

Kent-born Melvyn Barnes has lived in Suffolk since 1972 and working in London as a Director of Libraries. His interest in singing began in 1987 and since then he has appeared in numerous productions with Bury St Edmunds Operatic Society.
