The Churchgate Sinfonia Strings

Woolpit Festival is delighted to welcome the Churchgate Sinfonia strings to this year’s festival. They last appeared in Woolpit in 2015 when the strings and woodwind played to a packed audience in the church.

The Churchgate Sinfonia now has a solid reputation for its concerts of music from the baroque era to twentieth century classics. It stages four concerts a year in Bury St Edmunds and surrounding villages raising money for charity. The string and woodwind sections have each established excellent individual reputations and on occasion, play as separate ensembles, like this evening.

Tonight’s performance features English music and will include:

Lady Radnor Suite – Parry

Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis – Vaughan Williams

Variations on a theme of Frank Bridge – Britten

Serenade for strings – Elgar
